Jagran news desk,
The war between Russia and Ukraine is heading towards its third year. But now Putin has put forward new conditions to end the Ukraine war. His conditions are such that Ukraine is never going to accept them at the moment. President Putin said that Russia will end its war only when Ukraine completely leaves all the four regions claimed by Moscow. Apart from this, Putin demands that Ukraine should give up its insistence on joining NATO. Ukraine has completely rejected this demand of Putin and called it a sham.
A peace conference is to be held in Switzerland, to which Russia has not been invited. Speaking ahead of the conference on Friday, Putin laid out his conditions for ending the war. Along with withdrawing from the four occupied regions in eastern and southern Ukraine, Putin said Ukraine must demilitarise and Western countries must lift their sanctions on Russia. Western countries imposed sanctions on Russia after the attack on Ukraine. This has damaged the Russian economy.
According to a Russian Foreign Ministry statement, Putin said Russia’s conditions for peace talks are simple, starting with the withdrawal of Ukrainian troops from the entire regions of Donetsk, Luhansk, Kherson and Zaporizhia. Russia currently only partially controls these regions, but Putin claims each region will become part of Russia in 2022. He said, “As soon as Kiev declares that it is ready for this decision and will not join NATO, we will immediately give the order to stop firing and start negotiations.”
